Donate to the Axolotl!
¡AXOLOTL! – the renowned and beloved Art Car, is preparing its return to Burning Man in 2024 – bigger, better, and with a deeper commitment to our vision of inclusion, creativity and ecological regeneration – including donations to save the last remaining wild axolotl in Mexico – BUT WE NEED YOUR PARTICIPATION & SUPPORT!
NEW FOR 2024!
The Oasis Lounge
Every deep desert experience needs an oasis where weary adventurers can recharge and recuperate. The Oasis Lounge is a curious, cozy family room tucked at the far edge of the deep playa. A loungey space with vibey tunes, it’s perfect for late night conversations and pre-sunrise cuddle puddles.
Founded in 2013, La Calaca Village is made up of family and friends from around the world. With roots in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Reno, Amarillo, San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City, Mexico, our village is inspired by Mexican culture and the espiritu of that great land, its people and its robust traditions. Our name "La Calaca"—which means "The Skeleton" in Spanish—comes from our association with the La Calaca Festival, a participatory arts festival that takes place in San Miguel during Day of the Dead each year.

Our Playa Offerings
— Our Day of the Dead Procession brings a glimpse of that revered Mexican Holiday to the Playa.
— Axolotl—The Earth Guardian—is our art car and sound stage, and features international DJs and live music. Axolotls are regenerative amphibians from Lake Xochomilco in Mexico City, and we are currently raising awareness of this creature and its endangerment.
— The Healing Dome is our renowned treatment center, where our trained practitioners provide care through various therapies.
We pride ourselves on radical inclusion and we both welcome and mentor satellite camps who share our open-hearted and open-minded philosophy. As we continue to grow and explore, we welcome everyone to stop by and visit our ever-evolving, loving community.
